Big names of country at Urban Country Music festival

KASEY Chambers, Adam Brand and The McClymonts will headline this year's Urban Country Music Festival.

Four-time Golden Guitar winner Beccy Cole, Busby Marou and the Sunny Cowgirls also top the bill, which will feature a total of 160 artists performing across 12 stages.

Held annually in Caboolture, the three-day event attracts an estimated 20,000 country music lovers to southeast Queensland.

The festival is spread across Caboolture's Historical Village and Showgrounds and the Queensland State Equestrian Centre.

"It's a three-day jam -packed festival of live music and entertainment, kicking off with the Friday night concert on May2," said Moreton Bay Regional Council Mayor Allan Sutherland.

"Saturday night's main concert features the biggest names live on two stages with eight non-stop hours of Australian country music's hottest hits.

"With all the thrills and spills of the National Finals Rodeo and the all new Country Fairground, it adds up to one extraordinary long weekend of entertainment in the Moreton Bay Region's country music capital."

Chambers, who separated from her singer/songwriter husband Shane Nicholson last year, recently unveiled her new Foggy Mountain Jam supergroup in Tamworth.

Joined by her dad Bill, Busby Marou, Ashleigh Dallas and Harry Hookey, Chambers is playing a handful of Foggy Mountain Jam shows next month before playing the Byron Bluesfest and supporting American blues musician Steve Earle in his Bluesfest sideshows.

All-sister trio The McClymonts recently released the first single, Going Under (Didn't Have To), from their forthcoming fourth studio album.

Brand joined his new record label ABC last year and is currently working on his upcoming album My Acoustic Diary.

The Urban Country Music Festival will be held from May 2 to 4. For more information or to buy tickets go to www.urbancountry.com.au.
