Why I love the most annoying workmate in the region
I WORK with one of the most annoying people in central Queensland. Yes, I said it - one of the worst, most annoying people I have ever met.
Over my time here on earth I have met some really annoying people like Kevin Rudd, Daryl Somers, Dermott Brereton and more, but none have come close to the one who I work with here at Zinc. Here's what she does.
This person sings to everything - not just a gentle hum that would perhaps be at the same level as a bee flying, oh no, this worker belts out the tune like it's karaoke night at the local pub.
Thing is, this person is very good at the tunes, always gets them right, but bloody hell why does she have to sing along to every tune out aloud?
Another thing that cheeses me off is the constant talking. Not just a general chat about the weekend's footy scores - no, she talks about everything.
What's on the computer screen, the names of people walking past the window, what she's going to write next, how bad NSW are in Origin and more.
It does go a little far when you ask if she's talking to you, but when she replies with, "No, just talking out loud..." I wonder.
There are plenty more things that annoy me about her like her washing the work car every second day, wearing loud and glittery things in her hair, dancing in the corridor while waiting for the lift door to open, burning sausages at our outside broadcasts, continuing to have fireman calendars on the wall, and who can forget that annoying Kiwi accent day in and day out.
I mean, really, I could make this list a mile long but you'd probably get bored reading half way, and the paper wouldn't even publish it, but in all seriousness I'm glad for it all.
Yes, glad. This lady might be one of the most annoying people I have ever met, but boy, she's also one of the nicest people you will ever want to meet.
I won't call her by her real name just in case I embarrass her, so for this exercise I'll call her Cheryl Scott.
Cheryl is one of the true troopers in this industry, will do anything for you, anytime of the day, will have a laugh about anything and anyone (mostly about me) and has one of the biggest hearts that I've ever seen.
Thank you for sharing the office Cheryl. Now can you shut up singing and let me do some work. Please?
