Clinton prepares for a major FFA Cup clash in Mackay

BRENDAN Hancock has played plenty of big matches in his football career, and the more his Clinton side triumphs in the FFA Cup, the closer he comes to the pinnacle.

After a win against Southside United, the Clinton team now has to pack up its gear and go to Mackay for a clash with the Magpies.

"I don't know anything about them," Hancock laughed.

"Everyone is keen as, no-one has really talked about it. We are just taking it game by game."

With a win, Hancock's team can move forward to play against the North Queensland winner, but the Magpies game looms first.

Hancock said the key will be sticking to the game plan.

His side has the big match experience to deal with the pressure.

"For the team, it is a big step. For me it is up there too," he said.

"I wouldn't say it would be as big as winning a grand final here, but it would be close."
