Better parking could be on the way for Boyne Island school

IT has been 20 years in the making, but Boyne Island State School could soon have more room for parking.

It was announced on the school's Facebook page that Education Queensland had acquired the land in Pittsbay Cres for the schools use.

A meeting will be held on August 12 with the Gladstone Regional Council and the Department of Transport to develop the area safely for pedestrian and traffic use.

It was purchased from the Department of Housing and will give more parking and transport options for parents and staff.

"This has been a project 20 years in the making ... so appreciative to so many people that this critical first step has been achieved.
