Owner vows boat with chequered past will be restored
SHE'S lived a colourful life enduring cyclones and even dabbling in the illegal drug trade, and now the historic sail boat, Giom Four, will be restored to full health.
Kym Lowe, owner of the 84-year-old timber craft, was elated to watch the 28-foot vessel hoisted up by crane yesterday afternoon.
"Hopefully she will live again, a better life than ever before," he said.
"I plan to restore her to full health, replace the mast with aluminium and circumnavigate Australia."
An oyster producer and commercial fisherman, Mr Lowe has awaited the day where Giom Four would be able to resume her nautical adventures.
Monday was the first day of this journey to Brisbane for repairs.
