Bernie's Party Bus gets an upgrade with bigger, better bus

IT'S demand from Rockhampton that's driving business for Bernie's Party Bus owner Bernie Brandt.

And he expects to be even busier when his 24-seat bus is ready next month

Mr Brandt has had a 12-seat bus decked out with karaoke, lights and music for four years.

But it's time for an upgrade.

He sold his bus to a Gold Coast resident and is fitting out a newer and bigger bus.

Mr Brandt, who is also a school bus driver, said the business had taken off recently, with plenty of interest from Rockhampton.

But with just 12 seats he was restricted for some bookings, causing some cancellations.

He said while Gladstone was "pretty quiet" he has had plenty of inquiries from Rockhampton.

"I've had some cancellations recently solely because there wasn't enough seats for the party," he said.

"On average I'll have one booking a week but some weekends I'll have bookings for Friday, Saturday and Sunday."

The first gathering at the new bus will be for the Bundaberg Broncos vs Cowboys game next month.

"It's going to have a sound system that is just as good, possibly better than what I had and with better karaoke."

"I'm hoping now I'll be able to attract some more Christmas parties and bridal parties seen as I'll have 12 more seats."

"I've been DJ-ing for 40 years and I was keen to do something different … that's where the party bus idea came from."

"It's not like any other bus on the road and there's never been a boring trip."
