Benefit night hit for ladies
CHAMPAGNE was flowing, people were dressed to the nines, and money was raised to support the Gladstone Amateur Boxing Club on Saturday.
The club's annual fundraiser, Ladies Rose Day, was held at the boxing gym in Barney Point and was a sight to behold with raffles galore and boxers serving the attendees.
It was the club's major fund
raising activity for the year with all proceeds raised going to assist with the costs of running the club.
"We are a not-for-profit organisation and the funds raised are spent on equipment needed, running costs and to assist with travelling expenses incurred by our club," Jacki Daly said.
"We raised a fair bit of money so we're happy about that."
Jacki said everyone looked amazing on the day and for a bit of fun the boys weren't allowed to take their shirts off for the ladies without a donation first.
Local businesses also got behind the day, providing prizes and having the backing of major sponsor Specialist Equipment Services meant live music and other personal touches.
The lucky door prize of two nights' accommodation at The Novotel on the Sunshine Coast went to ticket holder number 18, a lucky Sarah Williams.
There was also a massive multi-draw made up of prizes all valued at more than $100 with a grand prize of two return airfares to Sydney and three nights' accommodation in the city for two adults.
This prize went to Erin Clark.
"Everyone was hanging out to see who would win the major prize," Jacki said.
