Record crowd likely for Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars

BENARABY Raceway will be set alight this Saturday when for the first time the venue will host the Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars series.

Series manager Steve Bettes said he would not be surprised if the record attendance for the raceway was broken as the series was a highlight wherever it was held.

"We confidently predict Benaraby's largest crowd ever," he said.

Bettes encouraged everyone to attend as it would be the largest gathering of Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars the series has seen.

Twelve cars and drivers will be on the start line to rip down the track, racing over the 1000-foot distance, having three runs each.

The first run will be at 4.30pm, the second at 6.30pm and the final run at 8.30pm, totalling 36 Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars flying down Benaraby Raceway.

Other attractions on hand includes Matt Mingay doing tricks on a Harley Davidson and a car which will wow the crowd by running the whole track on its rear wheels.

"We are bringing with us the Nitro Sheriff wheelstander which is designed to go the whole track on its back wheels," Bettes said.

"The kids absolutely love it, young people love it and it is a crowd favourite."

In addition, normal racing divisions will be running qualifying from 12.30pm on Saturday and throughout the evening.

Bettes himself is keen to see the non-stop action, having raced at Benaraby a couple of years ago and knowing the venue will be top notch for the biggest show he has ever organised.

"There are 130 competitors running in other categories too," he said.

"Thirty-six nitro-burning runs, you would never see that anywhere else."
