Entries for harbour festival fun run close soon

ON YOUR marks…while the Gladstone Road Runners will be hot in competition, the rest of Gladstone is invited to join them for the annual Harbour Festival Fun Run on Friday.

The 39th fun run is all about the picturesque parklands where entrants can walk, run or jog a 3km event from East Shores to the marina, or a 10km event that also takes in Spinnaker Park.

Gladstone Road Runner Greg Hage said the run had taken many courses over the years, around the marina and the town.

"After the East Shores development, we're now coming back here to start and finish the races," he said.

"We're making the best of the parklands and what Gladstone has to offer."

Sponsored by Hub Fitness, the run has an online registration site at gladstoneroadrunners.com, with numbers to cut off at 400 runners.

Hage said there would be more than $400 of random prizes to be given away at the conclusion of the event.

The proceeds of the event will go to the Gladstone District School Chaplaincy Program.

Program chair David Young said it would provide wages for the nine chaplains who support 14 schools across the district.

EVENT DETAILS:

  • 3km and 10km events
  • 6.15am onwards for race bib pick up
  • 7am start
  • Good Friday, April 3
  • $10 entry
  • Registrations: gladstoneroadrunners.com and close midnight April 1
