Boys call on players to sign up with club they love

DAVID Lockwood, Rana Wagg and Ryan Lingard don't play junior rugby league for Wallabys because their team wins each week - they play for the pride of the club.

Despite not being at the club for the same length of time, the trio are all keen to establish the best possible outcomes for the team.

And for the entire club.

Believing there are a number of teams who can win premierships this year for Wallabys, the boys are calling on anyone who wants to be a part of a successful club to come on board.

"I can't fault the club," David, 13, said.

"You develop a lot of friendships and we show up and expect the same level of effort."

The club had one grand final team last year, and already the players feel a different, positive vibe which was not there last year.

With a few more spots on each team open for players, Rana, 13, sees no reason a player should not pick rugby league and the Wallabys.

"This is my second year. I have played other sports like tennis and soccer. This is the best so far," he said.

"Come and play. We will win some matches and have a lot of fun."

Where the club is desperate is in the under-12 age group, a team which currently lacks enough players to nominate.

Having seen a similar position in the past for one of his teams, Ryan, 12, said new players are welcome.

His Wallabys outfit had some arrive last year, and the results turned around quickly.

"We didn't start too well, but getting to know each other more at the end of the season we won nearly all the games at the end," Ryan said.

"The club lost a lot of players though and we want to get more on board."
