Bechtel claims record with three roofs up in three weeks

CONSTRUCTION company Bechtel has claimed a world first on Curtis Island after the successful raising of three LNG tank roofs in three weeks, across the three projects.

A Bechtel representative said although there was still a long way to go, the major milestone showed how progress was being made across all three sites.

The Australia Pacific LNG project raised its first tank roof on June 14, followed by the raising of the second QCLNG tank on June 18 and lastly the first roof for GLNG, which was raised on June 25.

Bechtel Gladstone general manager Kevin Berg said along with the QCLNG first tank roof raised early in February, the milestone was testament to the skill, hard work and determination the company has to successfully complete the projects.
