Mystery in a bottle washes up on Farnborough Beach

CYCLONE Dylan hurled all it could at Farnborough Beach last weekend: a 13m trawler, heaped piles of raw vegetation and a mysterious letter in a bottle

During a day stroll along Farnborough Beach on Wednesday, Yeppoon's Michael Moore found a small brown bottle, among the tonnes of debris, containing a brief letter.

It stated: "Greetings. This message has been sent by Ron & Val from the cruise ship Pacific Sun (9 day cruise between the 2nd September and the 10th of September 2007). Would the finder please advise us of the date and location at either of the below listed addresses.

"Email: aquariusron@ optusnet.com.au; mail: Ron & Val Lamb, 27 St Johns Road, Auburn, NSW, Australia, post code 2144.

"Thank you in advance for your kind assistance."

Michael picked up the bottle and made efforts recently to contact Mr and Mrs Lamb in Auburn, by email.

He said he planned to ask his children to send Mr and Mrs Lamb a letter by post.

"I am a bit intrigued as to where exactly this bottle came from," Mr Moore said.

If you have any information regarding Ron and Val Lamb, please contact The Morning Bulletin on 4930 4253.
