Baffle Creek parties on road to recovery

CLOSE to three months on from the Australia Day floods, Baffle Creek Community members are still putting the pieces of their lives back together.

It was an eye-opening experience when I ventured out that way a few weeks ago to report on how the town was recovering.

So many people lost absolutely everything.

And close to three months on, they are still unable to return home and are still waiting to hear back from insurance companies.

That's on top of the emotional trauma, which is still raw for many Baffle Creek residents.

I can't even begin to imagine what they are going through.

But it was truly inspiring to see the town's strong community spirit and their willingness to rise above it. Nobody was in it alone, they were in it together.

And this weekend marked a pretty big milestone in Baffle Creek's recovery efforts.

The recovery party was not just a fundraiser for flood victims but a celebration of just how far they have come.
