Baby was in a hurry to meet his new family
LITTLE Benjamin was so eager to meet his parents he was born just 12 minutes after Kym Manning's water broke.
Weighing just 3120g, Benjamin George Manning was welcomed into the world at the Gladstone Hospital at 1.43am on Monday.
Mrs Manning said although it had seemed very strange, she was glad how quickly her ordeal was over.
"I was only in labour for about three hours. They broke my waters and next thing I know I'm holding my little baby boy," she said.
"It was so different with his sister Charlotte. I was in labour for 14 hours with her. I wasn't expecting it to be so quick this time."
Mrs Manning said they chose 'Benjamin' as a traditional name.
"His middle name, George, runs in his father's family, and hopefully we can continue the tradition for generations to come," she said.
"It took a while for us to decide on the name Benjamin; I have always loved classic names. Now we have Charlotte and Benjamin and we couldn't be happier."
Mrs Manning said having a girl and a boy within a few years of each other was pure luck.
"As soon as I found out I was pregnant I had to know the sex. We waited with Charlotte; and Alex really wanted a boy," she said.
"We are so blessed to have a girl and a boy. Most people don't get that, so we know we are pretty lucky."
Benjamin's dad Alex said they wouldn't be trying for another child.
"We are happy we have the perfect family. What more could we ask for? I think for now two is enough," he laughed.
Mrs Manning has decided to become a stay-at-home mum to make sure she doesn't miss any precious moments.
