Couple kept pregnancy secret until birth
FOR nine months local parents Maddison Turner and Codey Thorogood kept the secret of their pregnancy from family and friends.
It was no secret though when Maddison gave birth to a healthy baby boy on Tuesday at Gladstone Hospital.
On Wednesday six family members including Codey's cousin, Laine, brother Bailey, great grandma Nurel, great aunt Jo and Maddison's mother Stacey all gathered from Ambrose and beyond, at the hospital to welcome the little one into the family.
New mother Maddison said even at seven months she was so tiny no one noticed she was pregnant.
"It was just last Sunday that the family took me to see a waterfall and I had to walk 240 steps to get there without them noticing I was pregnant," she said.
"I even had to wear clothes that family bought me for Christmas which was a challenge."
Keeping with the secrecy, the pair chose to leave the sex of the baby a surprise and they were blessed with a little boy.
"We haven't come up with a name yet but I like Frazer and the family like Xavier," Mr Thorogood said.
"We couldn't set up a baby room at home until now so this is when the planning starts," Ms Turner said.
The couple were in awe of their precious little bundle and said that there were many "best things" about being new parents.
"I like that he's content and being a good baby so far," Mr Thorogood said.
"He's (little baby) liking all the attention and I don't mind all the presents," Ms Turner said.
For great grandma Nurel the unexpected delivery of the baby boy has left her overjoyed.
"It's a daunting experience for them (Maddison and Codey) but it's my second time being a great grandma so it's lovely and I can help because I've got lots of experience," she said.
Maddison's mother Stacey is also in town and happy to help ease the new little family into baby life.
