Author to share food message
SOCIETY has certainly changed to the point that we now think almost daily in terms of conserving water and power, being environmentally friendly and driving a car with low emissions.
But thinking about food often has more to do with kilojoules, sugar, fat and salt than it does with conservation or ethics.
Author Dr Will Tuttle aims to change that and is bringing his ethical eating message to Toowoomba for a special talk.
He will be discussing ideas from his book The World Peace Diet.
"Food is our most intimate and telling connection both with the natural order and with our cultural heritage," Dr Tuttle said.
"But it is increasingly clear that the choices we make about food today are leading to environmental degradation, enormous human health problems and unimaginable cruelty toward our fellow creatures."
Vegans in Toowoomba group member Mo Orr believes anybody could benefit from being more aware of the issues surrounding meat production.
"The World Peace Diet is a powerful book, and it's exciting that Will Tuttle will be here, in Toowoomba, sharing his ideas," she said.
"His message is one that will resonate with many people."
