Australia's dental hygiene worse than Britain's

THE nation's dental industry is encouraging more Australians to floss regularly following a survey showing Australian dental hygiene has fallen behind Britain's.

An Oral-B funded survey released Wednesday found 79% of British people brushed twice a day and a third of Australians brushed only once a day.

Australian Dental Association president Dr Rick Olive said dentists knew Australians "do not give their oral health the priority that it should have" and that proper cleaning and flossing and regular visits to a dentist would "avoid serious problems and expense".
