AUSTRALIA's John Peers and Finland's Henrik Kontinen have survived a match point to reach the Wimbledon doubles semi-finals.

The Australian Open champions toppled French Open winners American Ryan Harrison and Kiwi Michael Venus 6-4 6-7 (5-7) 6-7 (4-7) 7-6 (9-7) 6-1.

Peers and Kontinen defended a match point in the fourth set tiebreak before surging away but a leg injury in a subsequent mixed doubles match now hovers over Peers' chances.

The Kooyong star is is bidding to become Australia's first men's doubles champion since Steven Huss combined with South African Wesley Moodie to beat Bob and Mike Bryan in 2005.

Peers lost the 2015 final alongside Jamie Murray to Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau.

The Victorian appeared to hurt his right leg in a mixed doubles loss while partnering German Sabine Lisicki.

Ashleigh Barty and Casey Dellacqua were eliminated in the doubles quarter-finals 6-4 4-6 6-4 by Russians Ekaterina Makarova and Elina Vesnina.

Blake Ellis is into the third round of the boy's singles.
