Yacht race over for another year as Wistari crosses line

THE Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race fleet can now rest for another year.

All boats have been accounted for after local entry Wistari arrived home at 8.31pm on Monday.

The race started at 11am on Friday.

Low winds meant there were 16 retirees in the mono-hull and another six in the multihull event, meaning only 24 of the total 46 starters finished the race.

Wistari was the slowest boat in both fleets, finishing nearly seven hours behind the second-last vessel.

While two local entries retired, Wistari was the winner of the performance handicap veteran division, despite the amount of time the boat spent on the water.
