Asian Cup put the brakes on Glory charge

PERTH Glory winger Richard Garcia says a stop-start past few rounds is part of the reason why his top-placed A-League team has struggled for form.

"It's hard when a break comes up and you haven't got competitive games and you play, then you've got another week off," he said.

The loss of form has cut the Glory's lead at the top of the table to one point.

The Perth outfit will face the third-placed Adelaide United on Sunday - it lost 2-1 to the Reds on January 5 before the three-week break.

The visitors will be without defender Dino Djulbic because of suspension.

Meanwhile, the overseas interest in Wanderers coach Tony Popovic has continued, with Croatian club Hadjuk Split the latest to explore the possibility of luring the Asian Champions League-winning mentor to Europe.
