Work set to begin on second hub for artists
WORK is about to begin at Creative Gladstone's second venue to transform it into a creative hub for artists of all kinds.
A working bee will start on the weekend of April 18-19, with painting and other tasks on the 'to-do' list.
The new space at 8 Crow St will bring the industrial nature of Gladstone together with the rich and diverse undercurrent of talent across the region.
This new site will operate alongside the organisation's existing space on the corner of William and Auckland Sts.
Adrienne Ward, president of the volunteer-run, non-profit organisation, is looking forward to seeing the the functioning hub.
"The space will be an opportunity to attract new ideas and new artists, and we are very excited to be expanding our capabilities and taking Creative Gladstone to a new level of possibilities."
The calendar is now busy with weekly adult art classes and short courses in drawing and acrylic painting, suitable for beginners or people seeking a refresher in techniques.
A weekly Life Drawing class makes it easy for artists to brush up on their skills capturing the human form.
A holiday workshop for children will be held, showing how to create a clever and unique piece of art using metal foil.
Weekly after school children's classes will reopen after the Easter holidays.
