Late principal's garden dream funded by Arrow Energy

ARROW Energy will help fund the development of an outdoor learning area at Gladstone's St John the Baptist primary school to honour the memory of its late principal.

The energy company, which has recently confirmed a Gladstone base, will help build an outdoor learning area at St John the Baptist Catholic Primary School.

The garden was a dream of late principal Paul Daglish, who died on September 6.

School P&F committee member Lisa O'Brien said sustainable living had been one of Paul's passions.

"He was always interested in sustainable practices and he really wanted to do something with this dry patch of land between two buildings that wouldn't grow anything," Mrs O'Brien said.

The area will help teach children about water conservation, soil rejuvenation, horticulture and native flora and fauna.

The project is funded through Arrow's Brighter Futures community investment program.

Brighter Futures supports local not-for-profit groups on projects that build community capacity in health, safety, education and environmental awareness.
