Are you eligible for rental assistance?

THE high cost of living in the Gladstone region means some residents are stuggling to pay rent.

Help may be at hand with the Gladstone Regional Council's Community Advisory Service offering a range of housing assistance and support programs for residents.

These programs are funded jointly by LNG proponents GLNG, QGC and Australian Pacific LNG who have a business interest in the community.

Rental assistance is available for eligible families, couples, single people, seniors, young people who are employed a minimum of 20 hours per week, and those who work in occupations deemed to be critical to the community.

Eligibility criteria can be viewed on Council's website at www.gladstone.qld.gov.au and clicking on the Community Support, then on Housing Support Programs and then LNG Housing Support Programs.

People can also find out if they are eligible for rental assistance, or obtain more information, by phoning the Community Advisory Service on 4976 6300.
