Stamp of approval: Aquatic centre lease to go private

PRIVATE company Lane4 will take over the management of Gladstone Aquatic Centre and Mount Larcom Pool.

Today Gladstone Region Council approved the tender for a three year lease on the two facilities.

The move will save the council $284,000 in the first year and more than $800,000 over the three years.

Lane4 has agreed to the existing agreements for community groups but will be reimbursed by the council for free admissions during seniors' hour Monday to Friday.

There will be no increased fees for the first year, but Lane4 will then seek to negotiate increases in line with CPI.
