Young gun shoots to victory



TWELVE-year-old rising star Andrew Clarke was the toast of the Gladstone Clay Target Club's twoday Easter Shoot last weekend.

Clarke was the only shooter out of over 100 at the shoot to score 25 out of 25 off 17 metres in the double barrel handicap event.

The win was especially sweet for the youngster who collected the $500 first prize for himself to keep.

Competitors from as far as the Gold Coast, Roma, Sunshine Coast, Central Burnett, Pioneer, Blackall, Mackay, Sarina, Callide/Dawson, Dalby, Wandoan, Springsure, Tambo and Rockhampton travelled to Gladstone for the popular event.

Wes Humphries was the overall highgun for the weekend after his outstanding score of 251 from 260.

Gladstone's Garry Wright took home the AA Highgun for his outstanding tally of 247 points from a possible 260.

All competitors were certainly tested over the two days with lightning gusts, steady drizzle and large gusts of wind a feature.
