Woman suffers serious head injury

A 56-year-old woman sustained serious head injuries after an ac- cident on the Bruce Highway just south of the Boyne River Bridge at Benaraby on Saturday afternoon.

The accident occurred about 1.15pm when the Harley David- son motorcycle the woman and her husband were riding, collid- ed with the rear of a car trailer.

Gladstone Police Sergeant Marcus Cryer said a southbound Nissan navara utility towing a car trailer was attempting to turn right into the Benaraby Raceway when the motorcycle collided with the rear of the trailer.

He said the 56-year-old male rider suffered multiple fractures and his female passenger was catapulted from the motorcycle, landing on the road.

Queensland Ambulance Ser-vice officers attended the scene and the woman was later trans- ported to a Brisbane Hospital with severe head injuries.

Her husband remained in a stable condition at Gladstone District hospital yesterday.

It is believed the couple were from New Zealand.
