Webster gains CQ open cricket spot

YARALLA all-rounder Grant Webster is the only Gladstonebased player selected in the Central Queensland Open cricket team for round one of the North Queensland Championships.

Webster, who will play his first game of the new season against The Glen this Saturday, is part of a formidable team which features eight players from Rockhampton.

He has been a super player for CQ in recent seasons and should yet again be a leading performer this summer.

Gladstone has a far stronger representation in the under-19 and under-17 teams, with nine players from the local area picked.

Batting quartet Lucas Hall, Liam Kirk, Nathan Rabnott and Dion Porteous form a strong under-19 line-up, while Rowan Murray and Josh Walters feature in the 12-man squad.

Gladstone also have a trio of players in the under-17 team, with batsmen Michael Slatter, Shay Bosworth and all-rounder Anthony Williams selected.

CQ will meet the powerful Mackay/Whitsunday in the first round of the series in Rockhampton on October 15 and 16. CENTRAL QUEENSLAND TEAMS
