By GLEN PORTEOUSglenp@gladstoneobserver.com.au

THE CEO of Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) Rod Hayes has tendered his resignation and will be leaving in January 2006. Mr Hayes has been the CEO since March 2003 and will be moving on to other projects.

During his time with GAWB Mr Hayes has enjoyed being on the board and is pleased with how customer satisfaction has improved.

Mr Hayes said that an improvement in reliablility and forward strategy of managing Gladstone's water was of great importance.

He said his time on the board would have been almost three years and he had a ball during that time.

The board had a traumatic period from the drought and dam wall raising but had changed substantially and had new management.

Mr Hayes' replacement would be announced later this month.
