ANOTHER stamp will be added to Gladstone volleyball sisters Emily and Rhiannon Tooker's passports after being selected in the Australian Youth volleyball team to play in Taipei next month.
It will be their second overseas trip with the national team after playing important roles in New Zealand last year.
The sisters were picked for Australia on the back of their form at the National Schools Cup and a specially held training camp.
They are two out of just three Queenslanders in the Australian team for the International Youth tournament which will include all the top Asian nations such as China and Thailand.
Their selection is a testament to the fine work of the Gladstone State High School of Excellence volleyball program. Sixteen-year-old Emily cannot wait for the trip after going through a hard selection process to make the team.
'I had to change my position to Outside so I would be a better chance of being picked and I am looking forward to going,' Emily said.
Fifteen-year-old Rhiannon who stands at an imposing 194 centimetres, will line-up in the green and gold as a middle blocker.
'We had a good time last year with the Australian team and it should be fantastic playing against the best Asian teams,' Rhiannon said.
Even so, the pair expect a tough competition with China the best team in the world and favourites to take the title.
'here is no doubt China are head and shoulders the best team in the world, but we are looking forward to playing against them,' Rhiannon said.
