Tennis juniors to descend on city

ABOUT 130 juniors will converge on the Gladstone Tennis Centre this weekend for the Head CQ Junior Masters Circuit Tournament.

The best of Central Queensland's talent will be on show chasing valuable circuit points on offer as the circuit gets closer to the finals in October. Many juniors are working towards spots in the Queensland Junior Masters Finals in Rockhampton as well as the January 2006 tour of Victoria.

Several Gladstone juniors will also be on show this weekend hoping to send many of visitors home empty-handed.

Our best chances will come from Charmaine Mason, Dayle Mitchell and Mary Klein (13-and-under girls), Ryan Mitchell, Chris Bauer and Ben Aldridge (13/u boys), Chris Warwick (15/u boys), Graham Hick (17/u boys) and Morgan Mitchell (10/u girls).

Nominations will still be taken until 4pm today and can be lodged with Ken Hick or Rob McBean at Gladstone District Tennis Associ-ation on 4972 2772.

A NEW season of night fixtures will get under way next Tuesday and Wednesday evening with good nomination numbers already received on both nights.

Anyone else wishing to nominate is urged to do so quickly or they will miss out.

THE Wednesday Ladies group is travelling to Rockhampton on Wednesday to defend the Conrad Shield won earlier this year.

Wednesday Ladies co-ordinator Jan Street is looking for ladies wishing to travel to Rockhampton next week so please give her a call if you are looking for a game.

A bus and babysitter are available so please help Jan if you can.
