A LOWSET fibro beach house right on the beach has been sold for $1.4 million, so far the highest price paid for a Tannum Sands home.
LJ Hooker (Tannum Sands) agent Vicki Brown, who negotiated the sale, said the the property was bought by a New Zealand businessman who intended to move to the area.
'It is a rare sale ? it is a large block and it has no neighbours on either side of it,' she said.
The property has a park on one side and a beach access lane-way on the other. The new owners intended to build on the property, she said.
The Observer believes the property was purchased by the previous owners in the late 1980s for about $150,000.
A family member said the decision to sell was not an easy one.
'We've had some wonderful times when we lived there while the children were young and we are aware that the property is irreplaceable,' she said.
'But we weren't using it and, because of the time it took to travel between Tannum and Gladstone, we decided to sell.
'We're still not sure if we did the right thing.'
