TANNUM Sands Surf Club has been rewarded for their form in last weekend's opening round with a strong representation in the Wide Bay Capricorn Branch Senior Squad.
Eight Tannum members have been named in the preliminary 34-deep squad which will be cut to 16 in time for next month's North Australian Interbranch Titles in Mackay.
Talented juniors Sarah Lowe and Arnika Tieman lead the local contingent, with both displaying great form in the first round of the series on Saturday.
Under-17 competitor Tieman is a tremendous surf competitor, who shone in the board and surf races in round one.
Lowe, who competes at under-15 level, is an all-round star who excels in the water, but also can mix it with the best of them on the sand.
Men's Open star Chris Marlow has also been picked in the squad and is one man who warrants his selection.
Marlow is a demon on the sand and was an notable performer in the beach sprint and flags during round one.
Meanwhile, the Tannum surf boat crew of Doug Grimwood, Adam Treanor, Tim Madden, Vance Krahenbring and Angelo Paolatto have also got the call up as the reserve boat crew.
Grimwood is a new face in the local ranks having moved to the region from Northern New South Wales during the off-season.
His Tannum debut as sweep proved to be a successful one and will no doubt continue to strengthen as the Branch season goes on.
Selectors are hoping to finalise the majority of the squad within the next week, while the boat crew will be confirmed after the series' second round at Agnes Water on November 12.
