Summer?s a circus as Sunfest gears up

DUE to popular demand, more young people will be able to run away with the circus as part of the Sunfest program.

Sunfest, which kicks off on Monday, offers young people almost 80 free and low cost activities in everything from abseiling, shadow puppetry and fire twirling to belly dancing and paintball.

One of the many highlights of the program is Brisbane's renowned Circa (formerly Rock N Roll Circus), who will offer a week of intensive circus workshops for kids of all ages, and introduce skills including trapeze, juggling, diablo, hula hoops and acrobalance.

Sunfest co-ordinator Mellissa Case said workshops could be attended for one day or the whole week and the 'rookie circus' would have the chance to perform on stage at the Gladstone Entertainment Centre for the Sunfest Showcase.

Following the 'rookies', Circa Ensemble will perform with 31 Circus Acts in 30 minutes. Limited places are still available in a variety of workshops and activities. For bookings, phone 49722 822.
