Such missed under the basket

TIGERS will have to overcome the absence of rebound specialist Nick Such when they clash with Devils in tonight's Gladstone Amateur Basketball Association men's first division grand final.

Tigers will step on to the Kev Broome Stadium court without the formidable presence of Such who has departed for Brisbane.

However, with players of the calibre of Kane Macready, Glen Chapman and Ray Cooper in the Tigers ranks, they will not lack for experience in Such's absence as they look to make amends for last season's runner-up finish.

Devils siblings Daniel and Tarron Green are in sensational form for the defending champions and Tigers' defence will have to work overtime to keep the pair in check.

In the women's division one decider, Tigers trio of Paige Wharton, Rachel Johnston and Pia Hansen will try to nullify Devils' attack which features class players in Kellie Pegg, Carla Pirie and Nicole Just.

The division two men's clash between Lions Fury and Team America is expected to be a close affair with both sides boasting plenty of experience.

Pirates' first challenge rests in fielding a full team for their men's division three decider against Lions Mane but, should they achieve that, the clash also promises to be an exciting affair.

The Under-16 Representative side will take on the experienced Devils Allstars in the division two women's decider and Allstars will have to work hard if they are to hold out their enthusiastic opponents.

Little also separates Dare Devils and Devine Devils in the women's division three encounter.
