Steelers determined to defend titles

CBH Steelers teams will be out to defend titles won last season when the Gladstone Touch Association finals are battled out at Briffney Creek tonight.

Steelers took out both the men's and women's division one titles in June and will be confident of repeating the dose tonight despite each facing tough opposition.

Steelers women, who defeated Pink Ladies 8-2 to take the crown in June, will take on a talented Club Collex side featuring Cassie Brown, Jo Peek and Sonia Eberle.

However, with players of the calibre of Fiona White, Gina Baker, Megan Baker, Yvette Zwisler and Rachel Mann in their ranks, Steelers will be difficult to beat on the night.

The women's top grade competition, which this year featured six teams, was a particularly close one in which other outfits Pink Ladies, Touchdown Taipans and Last Wave would not have looked out of place in the decider.

In the men's division one decider, CBH Steelers will have to overcome the challenge of youngsters People Resourcing.

People Resourcing upset second-placed Port Curtis Electrical to secure a spot in the decider and will look to continue that good form tonight.

The side has youth and enthusiasm on its side and with a talented lineup, including Brendon Gibb and Dylan Cross, will fancy its chances of pulling off an upset victory.

However, they face a Steelers lineup which boasts plenty of big game experience as well as pace in the shape of such players as Matt Baker, Aaron Nagas and Grant Stokes.
