Souths out to establish credentials

SOUTHS have the chance to stamp their premiership creden- tials when they take on Meteors and Sparks in Gladstone District Hockey Association A1 women's fixtures at Rigby Park today.

Having taken time to adjust to life without Australian Country representative Susan Aitken- head-Brown, Souths showed plen- ty of fight to hold competition leaders Meteors to a 2-2 last week- end and will look for more big performances today.

They tackle Meteors at 1pm be- fore backing up at 5pm against Sparks who also showed good form to beat Meteors 1-0 last weekend.

Despite only taking one point from last weekend's fixtures, Me- teors go into the final round of fix- tures as favourites for the title but Souths could rattle their cage a bit with a victory today.

In men's A1 action, Meteors and Sparks resume their ongoing battle at 2.20pm today.
