Smelter takes beach life saving gold

BOYNE Smelters Limited (BSL) is supporting safety on the beach for the next three years through a new $17,500 partnership with the Tannum Sands Surf Life Saving Club.

BSL has become the club's gold sponsor and will donate $7,500 this year and $5000 a year for the next two years.

The funds will assist the club in meeting the cost of liability insurance and purchasing necessary rescue equipment.

BSL acting general manager Mike Dunstan said he was pleased BSL could secure the club's future for three years and support the continued safety of swimmers at the beach.

Surf life saving club president Tony Davis said securing BSL as gold sponsor capped off a successful sponsorship drive.

"I believe we now have the right sponsors on board to take us into and beyond 2007's Year of the Life Saver,'' he said.
