Six softballers selected for Capricornia

SIX Gladstone softballers have been selected in the Capricornia Schools team for October's state championships.

Brittany Jenkinson, Amanda Davison and Eliza Armitage were picked for the girls side, while Blake Gibbs, Matthew Starr and David Black were selected in the boys outfit.

The three girls were picked on the back of impressive form for the Port Curtis team at the trials in Gladstone recently. Jenkinson, a catcher, was solid as a rock behind the plate, while Armitage and Davidson showed good form with both the bat and glove.

Meanwhile, the three boys were part of a competitive Port Curtis team in Mackay.

They won three of their four games, losing only to a strong and experienced Mackay line-up.

Gibbs, a pitcher, was in superb form, while Black and Starr shone with the bat.

The six representatives will be counting down the days until the championships, being held in Townsville.
