Sex case moved to city

BRISBANE ? A former leading Queensland corporate director will face a committal hearing in Gladstone over child sex offences allegedly committed 35 years ago.

The 62-year-old man, from Brisbane's inner northern suburbs, faces seven charges of indecent assault dating back to 1968 at Gladstone.

Brisbane Magistrate Errol Wesley yesterday transferred the case to Gladstone on the basis that the alleged offences took place here and because most of the witnesses were from Gladstone, Rockhamp-ton or Mackay. The defence did not oppose the move. The case was listed for mention on February 16 in the Gladstone Magistrates Court when it is expected a date will be set for a committal hearing.

The man, a professional company director, was excused from attending court yesterday and at the next mention of the case.
