Selectors loyal to defeated team

GLADSTONE selectors have largely stayed faithful to the team beaten by Callide/Dawson earlier this month while announcing the open representative cricket side to take on Rockhampton next weekend.

Teenagers Nathan Rabnott (Calliope) and Lucas Hall (BITS) come into the side after being unavailable for the Biloela clash due to North Queensland representative duties.

The pair replaces Brad Muckert (Calliope) and Aaron Baldwin (Yaralla) in the side while BITS captain Jaysen Chilcott also comes into the 12.

The under-21 side, which overcame an early batting hiccup to score a comprehensive victory over their Callide/Dawson opponents, have been bolstered by the inclusion of Liam Kirk who also represented North Queensland earlier this month. Kirk will captain the side against Rockhampton.

Selector Paul Taylor said Gladstone had the talent to knock over Rockhampton in both age divisions.

Open: Troy Webster (c), Scott Tippet, Brad Webber, Mick Kiriazis, Rob Johnson, Heath Courtney, Lucas Hall, Jaysen Chilcott, Nathan Rabnott, Dan Williams, Ken Wogandt, Jay Stevens.

Under-21: Liam Kirk (c), Josh Walters, Matt Lanzon, Rowan Murray, Anthony Williams, Peter Ferguson, Michael Gosschalk, Kelly Searston, Brett Rogers, Darran Hunt, Kris Hadley, Kane Jarvis, Mitchell Ryan.

Players must notify selectors if unavailable. A training session will be conducted at Yaralla Oval on Monday at 4.30pm.
