Record sale for 1770

A 1770 property overlooking the bay toward Bustard Head has sold for a record $1.5 million to an international investor.

The sale of Bustard Bay Lodge, on Endeavour Street, and settled within this last week was one of two properties to go under contract in the same street on the same day.

The Reef House sold for $1.4 million.

Selling agent Gordon Christian of Ray White Agnes Water said the properties belonged to different owners.

"Coincidently the properties sold within hours of each other,'' he said.

The managers of Bustard Bay Lodge David and Jackie Johns said the new owners, who own other property in the Agnes Water/1770 area, had decided to keep them on to manage the property.

The property, which has 180 degree views of Bustard Bay, has a large dwelling above and two modern, well-kept holiday units below.

Mr and Mrs Johns, who also manage a nearby guest house, said they were pleased to be able to stay on.

"We love it here and we don't want to move,'' he said. The previous owners of Bustard Bay Lodge live in Victoria.

The Reef House was bought by a Sydney couple from a local vendor.
