Reardon gets nod for sixes tournament

FORMER Gladstone batsman Nathan Reardon is smiling after his selection in an Australian select team for the upcoming Hong Kong Cricket Sixes tournament.

The talented left-hander has been named in the eight-man squad, which will be captained by former South Australian wicketkeeper Tim Nielsen.

Reardon will be accompanied in the squad by five of his Commonwealth Bank Centre of Excellence team-mates.

They include Western Australian Beau Casson who has played at Pura Cup level, Victorian Liam Buchanan and South Australian batsman Ken Skewes.

His selection clearly illustrates the strides Reardon has made in recent seasons and confirms his status in the upper echelon of Australia's top young cricketers.

And like most, Reardon knows how to celebrate, scoring a nice halfcentury for his club University in the XXXX Gold Grade competition on Saturday.

The Aussie team has been drawn in the same pool as home team Hong Kong, England and Sri Lanka.

The Sixes tournament commences on Saturday, October 22. Australian Hong Kong Sixes Squad:

Tim Nielsen (captain/coach), Dane Anderson, Nathan Reardon, Liam Buchanan, Beau Casson, Ken Skewes, Daniel Christian, Geoff Allardice (manager).
