PCYC gets air-con donation for function room

THE Gladstone PCYC received another early Christmas present on Friday when Comalco committed $55,000 to help air condition the facility.

The announcement came just days after the Federal Government offered $50,850 to air condition the function area of the PCYC.

Comalco's funding announcement ensures the entire building will be air conditioned.

Engineering work has already commenced on the project, which will be completed by mid-February 2005.

'This is an investment that will benefit the whole community,' said Trevor Peters, general manager operations for the Comalco Alumina Refinery.

'The Gladstone PCYC is a great community asset that will be available to community groups and companies like Comalco well into the future.

Gladstone mayor Peter Corones said that air-conditioning was always part of the vision for the PCYC.

'This is fantastic news for not only the Gladstone PCYC, but the whole Gladstone community,' he said.
