Open day highlights women?s craft

NAIDOC celebrations continued yesterday with an open day and women's craft morning at the Murri Centre.

The two events were dubbed a huge success by organisers.

Co-ordinator Melody Ingra said the open day allowed the Gladstone community to have a one-on-one chat with different businesses regarding a variety of options available to them.

She said the expo included Boyne Smelter Limited, Comalco, Centrelink and the Environmental Protection Agency.

'While the open day was a huge success, so was the women's art group,' Ms Ingra said.

She said Nikki Johnson (pictured above) got the kids involved in the celebrations by screen printing their shirts.

She said the morning allowed the Women's Craft Group to show off what they have to offer at the Murri Centre.
