New supermarket stays on schedule

THE Gladstone Central (Nightowl Centre) supermarket is still on schedule to open in September, a spokesman for the developers said yesterday.

The supermarket will be operated by IGA Superstores, according to the spokesman for proponents Celtic Pacific Properties, Ken Stockley.

IGA already operates an outlet in Toolooa Street.

A number of shop spaces are included in the supermarket proposal rising in the Mulhearn Investments site between Park Street and Kentucky Fried Chicken along Dawson Highway.

Mr Stockley said the next stage of the project, construction of the seven cinema complex and a Dicey Reilly's Irish Pub, would resume on completion of the supermarket.

Some work has already been carried out on the pub and the cinema complex.

It had been reported the supermarket would open in February this year.
