New map excludes motels and caravan parks

GLADSTONE accommodation providers are angry they have been left off the new Gladstone Area Development Ltd (GAPDL) map of the region.

The map replaces the earlier and smaller map used during the past decade but does not indicate where motels and caravan parks are.

Mary Moore of Toolooa Gar-dens Motel and Apartments is not impressed with the map.

'It's a nicely coloured, but the information that's important to the tourists, where to stay, is left off the map,' she said.

Siesta Villa's Leigh Barr said she was disappointed with the new map.

'Tourists rely on the map for accommodation, but this map is no good to them,'' she said.

GAPDL general manager Dan- ial Rochford said he has since dis- cussed the new map with accom- modation providers and as a result the new map, which will be- come available early in the new financial year, would again carry the accommodation destinations.

'On the positive side, we have now included Agnes Water, 1770, and Calliope and Biloela on the map,' Mr Rochford said.

'We recognise there is room for improvement in the new map and we will address the issues pointed out to us.'
