Metal spill closes road

ROADS were closed for several hours yesterday after a semitrailer rolled and spilled its load of scrap metal onto the Philip Street and Glen- lyon Road roundabout.

The incident occurred about 4pm, forcing police to divert traffic.

Late yesterday arrangements were being made to move the truck by crane.

Gladstone police Sergeant Owen Lawton said the driver had been taken to hospital as a precaution after a head knock, and otherwise no-one else was injured.

It is understood the man walked from the wreckage.

Police fire and ambulance services attended, with fire-fighters placing sand on the road to avert potential danger from fuel leaks.

Sgt Lawton said investigations would continue.
