Man on robbery charges faces court

A MAN who allegedly held up two Gladstone businesses on Tuesday has been remanded in custody after appearing in court yesterday.

Paul Lindsay Draper, 33, appeared briefly in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on charges relating to an alleged high-speed car chase which began in Gladstone on Tuesday night after the alleged armed robberies.

No application for bail was made, in a courthouse which was closed to the public.

Draper is expected to appear in court again for mention on January 18.

On Wednesday Draper surrendered peacefully after allegedly barricading himself in the ceiling of a second-storey Campbell Street unit in Rockhampton for more than four hours.
