Man faces court over Agnes Water shooting
BRISBANE: A man faced a Brisbane court yesterday accused of murdering another man outside his Nazi emblem-draped home at Agnes Water.
Robert William Budd, 57, unemployed, of Agnes Water, was charged with murdering 42-year-old Rogan Philip Matthews at his home, also in Agnes Water on Friday, January 14.
Budd is also facing one charge each of entering a dwelling to commit an offence, threatening violence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possessing a weapon and breaching bail.
The prosecution alleged Budd shot 42-year-old Matthews in the chest with a high-powered rifle following an argument. Matthews' Avocado Drive home was well-known locally because it was draped in Nazi swastikas and other white supremacist paraphernalia.
He had recently been charged with 41 counts of receiving suspected tainted property, receiving stolen goods and stealing.
Budd allegedly fled south in his car after the shooting and was arrested on Saturday night at Aspley, in Brisbane's northern suburbs. Budd, who appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court, did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody to reappear on March 14.
