Local couple met on the internet

LOVE will be in the air today, as we all celebrate one of the most romantic days on our calendar this year 'Valentine's Day'.
One lucky Gladstone couple will spend their evening at Scotties Bar and Restaurant tonight after winning a $150 voucher as part of the Observer Valentines Day competition. Winners Greg and Sharon Meyer had a true love story to tell after they first met chatting on the internet.
In the wide world of internet, it was love waiting to happen when the pair were drawn together through cyber space. Greg said they both had a lot of trouble with relationships.
'We had a lot of bad luck and Sharon certainly didn't have a good perception on men and I am really shy,' he said.
'Sharon has certainly helped me come out of my shell, and showed me what it's like to be in love.'
Sharon said Greg helped her in many ways.
'I had a really bad perception of men, and he changed all that with his charm and kindness,' she said.
Greg said it was a year into their relationship when he proposed to her early on Valentine's Day morning.
'We are a very traditional couple, I had asked her mother's permission two weeks earlier, so it was very hard for both myself and her mother to wait,' he said.
'Sharon isn't exactly a morning person, so when I proposed with a bunch of flowers and a ring, all she could say was 'What?'.
'When she was more awake she accepted my proposal.'
